In the first match on Saturday (18/11/2023), Armenia faced Wales, ending in a 1-1 draw. This result posed a hurdle for Wales in their journey to the final round.
Currently positioned third in Group D with 11 points, Wales is trailing by a two-point difference from Croatia in second place. Subsequently, Croatia secured a 2-0 victory against Latvia a few hours later.
Lovro Majer and Andrej Kramaric were the scorers for Croatia, paving the way for their potential qualification. Croatia can secure their spot alongside Turkey by defeating Armenia in the final match or if their closest competitor, Wales, fails to clinch a victory.
Switzerland from Group I ensured their passage to Euro 2024 despite only managing a 1-1 draw against Kosovo.
This was aided by Israel’s 1-2 defeat to Romania. Romania and Switzerland simultaneously secured their places as the point differentials became insurmountable in the remaining match.
Romania leads the group with 19 points, followed by Switzerland with 17 points, while Israel is in third place with 12 points.
Romania and Switzerland will now vie for the top spot in the group in their upcoming clash.
Netherlands also booked their place in the finals next year with a 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on Sunday (19/11/2023) in the early hours, thanks to Wout Weghorst’s goal in the 11th minute. With 15 points, the Netherlands stands in second place in Group B, six points behind France in first place and three points ahead of Greece in third.
Although there is one match left for each team, the Netherlands holds the head-to-head advantage over Greece with a total aggregate score of 4-0. These three teams join the 13 previously qualified teams, including the host nation.
Meanwhile, France achieved a record-breaking victory in the Euro Qualifiers, winning 13-0 against Gibraltar in Group B.
