The first half of Les Bleus vs. Oq Bo╩╗rilar ended in a goalless draw, with France dominating possession at 59 percent.

Despite 11 attempts from France, none found the mark, while Uzbekistan managed two shots, one reaching the target. Joan Trinces, wearing the number 19 jersey for France, unleashed three attempts but failed to hit the target.

A golden opportunity for France arose in the 56th minute when Ismail Bouneb’s free-kick found its way to the heart of Uzbekistan’s defense, connecting with Nolan Ferro’s header, but it failed to find the net.

Trinces missed a crucial chance for France in the 61st minute, standing unmarked during a corner kick but seeing his shot widen.

Uzbekistan seemed to break the deadlock in the 66th minute when Amirbek Saidov netted the ball in a one-on-one situation with French goalkeeper Paul Argney. However, after VAR review, Saidov’s goal was disallowed due to offside.

The pressure from France finally paid off in the 84th minute when Mathis Lambourde’s header hit the post, and Ismail Bouneb capitalized on the rebound, securing a 1-0 victory for France.

With 20 attempts by Jean-Luc Vannuchi’s team, the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle, ushering France into the semifinals.

France now awaits the winner between Mali and Morocco in the U-17 World Cup 2023 semifinals. The elimination of Uzbekistan marks the end of the Asian representation in this year’s tournament.
