Gabriel Jesus Acknowledges Scoring Isn’t His Strongest Suit

Following Brazil's match against Argentina in the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers on Wednesday (22/11/2023), Gabriel Jesus admitted that his primary strength isn't necessarily scoring goals. However, he emphasized his commitment to trying to breach the opponent's goal whenever he's on the field.

This revelation comes after Jesus served as the spearhead for Brazil during the entire 90 minutes of the match, which ended with a 0-1 defeat for Brazil. He continued his goal drought for the national team, having scored only one goal since October 2019, during a friendly against South Korea in February 2022.

His performance for the Brazil national team raises concerns among Arsenal supporters, considering his goal-scoring struggles this season. Jesus has only managed to score one goal in seven Premier League appearances.

In light of this, it’s not surprising that Arsenal has been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly aims to enhance the sharpness of his attacking line to be more competitive in the title race.

“There are things I can’t control. I train, I try, I move to find space, I help the team,” Jesus stated to Terra, as quoted by Standard, regarding his goal drought.

“Scoring goals is something that cannot be avoided. I believe that scoring goals is not my strongest aspect, but I have scored goals before, and I am in the team to make them,” Jesus added.
