Felix showcased composure as he skillfully chipped the ball past Atletico’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak in a one-on-one situation. The round sphere glided smoothly into the net.
Joao Felix, notably on loan to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid for the season, had previously found himself on the fringes at Atletico since the previous season. In the winter of 2023, Atletico loaned Felix to Chelsea, but the Blues opted not to make the move permanent.
Before the Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid clash, some Atletico players, including Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez, had openly criticized Joao Felix. Griezmann stated, “In the end, when you’re here, you know more or less what the coach and the team are like. If you don’t adapt and make an effort, it won’t work.”
“Joao sometimes works very well, but you have to be consistent. There are times when he’s tired and feels he doesn’t fit in here. That’s why he’s trying (to move), and the club is not stopping him,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Saul Niguez mentioned that Felix should have performed better during his time at Atletico Madrid. “He should have worked better here and done more,” he asserted.
Joao Felix has now accumulated two goals and two assists from 12 matches with Barcelona in La Liga. Additionally, his performance in the Champions League has been noteworthy, contributing three goals from five appearances.
